Newly Wed Card Message

The atmosphere in the New York theaters ...

... not so great. That is not in the theaters, because those are often very beautiful, magnificently decorated theaters of the early years of last century with stucco, frescoes, chandeliers etc.
a very special charm, the Golden Theatre (Avenue Q) was that with Gothic arches and the Jerusalem candle in the interior looked like a replica of Camelot. From the decoration but it reminded her more of the English Mission influenced style that was especially popular on the west coast. All theater seats were steeply rising, so we really had no vision problems, even if you back the rank was sitting.
What has clouded the atmosphere, however, is the very fact that you must stand before every play snake before you can clean. (I can not remember that 1999 was already above), the theater open until half an hour before the official presentation beginning of a narrow entrance through which then have to squeeze the masses (The image of a camel with the eye of the needle provides up here) no matter need in what area of the theater they. Foyer are rare but also in theaters with lobbies, such as the Majestic (Phantom) will be crowded into a confined space before you can clean. At Avenue Q was right before we even opened yet to get out of the hall in the rain sent to take up an to form series and left 5 minutes later to be pure. Somehow understandable that many will be as late as possible to the theater ... The ideas collected in accordance with at least 5 minutes late, but even that's not enough for many. The first two scenes are still many to look first to their place before they spin their front man of the weekly shopping in the neck (I oute me here as a two-fold sacrifice)
are very accommodating in New York, the ushers, here called Usher. They give you the Playbill (a kind of free, financed by advertising Cast booklet, that maybe we should introduce times) and give the exact coordinates of the seat. You also get information without being asked about the duration of the piece (Aktweise), duration of the pause positions of the toilets, bars, etc ... Actually, a great service.
If you can find by accident to the overture been to his place to the next 10 minutes later a sweet use of cellophane wrap to what could be done under normal circumstances in 3 seconds ... The experienced American repeats this process over the pieces so often.
It also recognizes a significantly different behavior in public, at the musical. For pieces that are already sold out more or to address a specific audience (Wicked, Sweeney Todd) is in the public Generally much more disciplined and attentive (there's more applause at the end) than in pieces, large "walk-ins" who decide on the day we might even sometimes see a musical, and cards are then at the TKTS Now for what just still is free ...

New York is always worth a visit! I would love to be back there ... nice that some pieces in the near future at least somewhat opposed. Next year there is in London probably also see "Wicked," "Avenue Q" and possibly "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." So is one of the following destinations already fixed :-)
